Target Contractors completed the decommissioning, abatement, demolition, and site restoration of an apartment building in downtown Fargo, ND.
The project includes the removal of 603,803 SF of asbestos materials from ceiling texture, floor tiles/mastics, insulated pipe, fireproofing, joint compound, ceiling panels, high-rise roofing materials, and roofing materials on shed; removal of universal waste (e.g., fluorescent lamps, ballasts, mercury switches, appliances, etc.).
Removal of hazardous materials, including CFCs in air conditioning units/fire extinguishers, glycol from building’s heating system, PCB containing equipment, and typical commercial chemicals/paints; removal of municipal solid waste (MSW) & carpet; demolition (via implosion) of 22-story, 151,395 SF apartment complex built in 1970; removal of three aboveground propane tanks; removal of two heating oil underground storage tanks filled with concrete slurry; removal of 1,000- gallon diesel fuel aboveground storage tank below emergency generator; and removal of a slab-mounted electrical transformer.
Project Highlights
• Completed implosion of a 22-story, 151,395 SF building in downtown Fargo, ND.
• Project completion on time and all tests and reports were submitted on time in
compliance with industry standards and specifications.
• Completed 33,000 labor hours with ZERO OSHA incidents, lost time, or vehicle accidents over the project period.
• Approx. 650 tons of C&D for landfill disposal and 195 tons of asbestos for disposal.
• Approx. 1,000 tons of scrap metal and 15,000 tons of concrete were recycled.
