Our story

We make way for something new and better.

Target Contractors is a heavy industrial, environmental, and demolition contractor, established in 2008. Our work is clearing the way for what comes next. Our mission is to be the “Best of the Best,” and day to day that means being consistent and building excellence in everything we do.

Where we started

A family business, built one project at a time.

Target Contractors was established in 2008 by David Evans, who still leads the company as President. We are a small business based in Moncks Corner, South Carolina, and today we are licensed and registered to work in more than twenty states.

We have grown, but the way we work has not changed. Our own crews self-perform 80% or more of the work, so the people who plan a project stay close to the people who carry it out. It is a family business, founded by David Evans, and we look after each other the way a family does.

From the start, our work has been demolition, asset recovery, and environmental services for federal, industrial, commercial, and municipal clients. We take on projects that call for more than equipment: careful planning, technical expertise, adaptability, and disciplined execution. That is why owners bring us sites that are live, regulated, or tight on room. Our key personnel bring more than 150 years of combined experience, and it shows in the way each project is planned and carried out.

In our own words

Hear it from the people who lead the work.

David Evans, Austin Hays, and Kerry Nazario talk about what drives the company: being consistent, building excellence in everything we do, and taking care of each other. These are the ideas behind how we run every project.

What sets us apart

The drive to be the best in our class.

Meeting expectations is where we start. Exceeding them, wherever we can, is the standard we hold ourselves to on every project and for every client. It shapes how we plan the work and how we carry it out, and it is why we keep asking how a job can be done a little better. That is what we mean by “Best of the Best”: not a title we claim, but a standard we work toward.

In his words“The thing that sets us apart is our drive to be the best in our class, and we want to meet expectations and then exceed them wherever possible.”Austin Hays, Executive Vice President

What we have learned

Three things we hold onto.

These came from the field, not from a brochure. They are how we run every project.

Taking care of each otherEvery lift, load, and move is planned so the crew goes home the way they arrived.

Take care of each other

Our most valued asset is the way we take care of each other. It is a family business, and it is why we are unwavering in our dedication to zero injuries.

That means looking out for the person next to you, and planning every job so that everyone goes home the way they arrived. Safety is not a separate program here. It is part of how a family looks after its own. For an owner, it shows up as a site that stays under control.

Listening firstActive sites have people and operations next door, so we start by listening to what the owner needs protected.

Listen to the client

The most important thing we have learned is to listen. What does the client need right now, and how can we best serve that? We plan our work around active facilities and live operations, and the plan starts there.

Every client, facility, and schedule is different, so we ask questions and listen to the answers before we settle on a method. The site-specific plan for each project is built from what the client tells us it needs, which means the plan fits your operation instead of ours.

Keep strivingWe meet the expectation, then look for the next way to exceed it.

Keep striving

We want to meet expectations and then exceed them wherever possible. We keep striving and growing, because being the best in our class is not a place we arrive at. It is how we work.

Excellence is not a finish line. We look for ways to do each project a little better than the last, and we hold ourselves to the same standard on the final day as on the first. For an owner, that means the closeout gets the same attention as the first day on site.

Your next project

We would love the opportunity to take a look.

Tell us about your next endeavor, your next project, and how we can make a difference.

Whether the work is a single structure or a full facility, we are glad to take a look, talk through the schedule and the constraints, and tell you plainly how we would approach it. Reach out and we will start the conversation.
