Demolition Services

Demolition looks simple from the road. It isn’t. We take down structures of every size, from selective strip-out to controlled implosion, and we plan the abatement and recovery work around it as one sequence. Plant decommissioning, concrete removal, crushing and recycling, and site preparation are planned and performed under one point of accountability, clearing sites for what comes next.

Scope

Demolition planned as one sequence, from first plan to cleared site.

Target Contractors performs structural, selective, and implosion demolition at active industrial plants, federal installations, and commercial properties. We self-perform 80% or more of our work with our own crews and equipment, so the people who plan a job are the people who run it, and the owner has one team to call.

Demolition rarely stands alone. Regulated materials come out first, equipment is recovered along the way, and ferrous and non-ferrous metals, concrete, asphalt, brick, wood, and other materials are recycled. We plan all of it together, so the owner works from one schedule.

Core services

  • Structural and implosion demolition. Buildings and structures of every size, taken down top-down with long-reach equipment, or by controlled explosive demolition for tall structures, including an 11-story building at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center and a 22-story high-rise in Fargo, ND.
  • Selective demolition and interior strip-out. Removal of specific systems, floors, or areas while the rest of a facility stays in service.
  • Industrial plant decommissioning. Equipment dismantlement, tank decommissioning, and complete facility demolition at industrial plants.
  • Concrete removal, crushing, and recycling. On-site crushing turns concrete into reusable material.
  • Site preparation. Utility removal, grading, erosion control, and restoration for the next use.

In detail

Each service adapts to the facility and the project.

Controlled implosion of a high-rise building

Structural and implosion demolition

Long-reach equipment takes most structures down from the top. Where it fits the site, a tall structure can come down by controlled implosion. We choose the method to fit your structure, your neighbors, and your schedule.

Cleared building interior after selective demolition

Selective demolition and interior strip-out

Targeted areas are opened up and removed in a planned sequence, so the rest of the facility can keep operating.

Excavator working beside a collapsing industrial plant roof

Industrial plant decommissioning

Equipment and tanks are dismantled and removed first, then the buildings come down, so the plant is cleared in a planned order.

Excavator sorting crushed concrete and rebar

Concrete removal, crushing, and recycling

Concrete is crushed on site where possible, which cuts hauling and disposal and leaves material that can be reused.

Site preparation

Utilities are removed, the ground is graded, and erosion controls and restoration leave the site ready for what comes next.

How we plan

The work that decides a project happens before the first machine moves.

  • Written plans first. Site-specific demolition, safety, and environmental plans are prepared and reviewed with the owner before we mobilize.
  • Regulated materials out first. Asbestos, lead, universal waste, and other regulated materials are abated and documented before demolition starts.
  • Method matched to the site. Mechanical, top-down, or explosive demolition is chosen to fit the structure, the neighbors, and the schedule.
  • Value recovered. Equipment is recovered, and ferrous and non-ferrous metals, concrete, asphalt, brick, wood, and other materials are recycled.

Equipment and resources

Built to self-perform.

We own and operate the equipment our work calls for.

  • High-reach excavators for large industrial structures.
  • Hydraulic attachments: shears, pulverizers, grapples, and breakers.
  • Concrete processing: on-site crushing and material recycling.
  • Dust suppression: water trucks and dust control systems that protect surrounding operations.
  • Support fleet: roll-offs, trucks, trailers, and generators.

Examples of our work

Demolition in practice

Two projects that show how we plan and perform demolition on sites with little room for error.

Both started the same way, with written plans and regulated materials removed before any demolition began. In Fargo, the schedule was built around abating asbestos, universal waste, refrigerants, PCB equipment, and fuel tanks before the 22-story tower came down by implosion in a dense downtown setting. At NASA Marshall, we developed plans for nine areas of the work, from accident prevention to site restoration, before an 11-story building came down on an active federal facility.
