Federal & Defense

On a working installation, the gate, the schedule, and the government review matter as much as the demolition. Security requirements, controlled access, and review are built into our plan from submittals through closeout, and we bring that discipline to ongoing work across 28 contracted facilities on an active federal campus.

What defines it

Active installations, controlled access, and formal procurement.

Federal and defense demolition takes place on working installations: secured gates, screened workers, and facility owners who run to published schedules. Aging barracks, administrative buildings, warehouses, and industrial structures come down one project at a time, usually with asbestos, lead, and other regulated materials to abate first.

Work is awarded through formal federal procurement, so past performance on comparable federal work counts. We keep the record to back it up.

How we plan

  • Access first. Worker screening, badging, and escort requirements are planned before mobilization.
  • Written plans. Accident prevention, health and safety, demolition, site security, and restoration plans are prepared for government review before work starts.
  • Regulated materials. Abatement, permits, and waste tracking are built into the schedule from the start.
  • Documented closeout. Tests, reports, and restoration records are delivered on schedule.
  • Quality control on record. Daily reports, preparatory and final inspections, and closeout records are kept as federal contracts require.

In detail

Each step is adjusted to the site and the project.

Open grounds and low buildings on a military installation

Access first

Gate access, badging, and escorts are worked out with the installation before crews arrive, so work starts without surprises at the gate.

Interior hallway of a building before demolition

Written plans

Plans for accident prevention, safety, demolition, site security, and restoration go to the government for review ahead of time, so reviewers see how the work will run before it begins.

Excavator clearing debris on a demolition site

Regulated materials

Asbestos, lead, and other regulated materials are abated under permits, and waste is tracked from removal to disposal.

Interior of a cleared hangar after demolition

Documented closeout

Tests, reports, and restoration records are delivered on schedule, so the installation has what it needs to close out the work.

Quality control on record

Daily reports and preparatory and final inspections build a record of the work as it is done, in line with federal contract requirements.

Who hires

Who we work for in this market

Installation public works offices and federal agencies, including NAVFAC, the Army, the Air Force, the Army Corps of Engineers, and NASA, along with prime contractors and joint-venture partners that need a qualified demolition and abatement team. Target is a small business, and we team with other qualified firms where a contract calls for it.

Our federal experience includes NASA Marshall Space Flight Center, MCAS Cherry Point, Radford Army Ammunition Plant, and Defense Supply Center Columbus. Our contracting identifiers, including UEI, CAGE code, and NAICS codes, are on the About page.

Examples of our work

Federal work in practice

On a working installation, the work has to fit around active operations. At NASA Marshall, we wrote plans for nine areas of the work, from accident prevention to site restoration, before an 11-story building came down, and the implosion was completed with zero recordable incidents. At MCAS Cherry Point, 14 facilities were cleared on an active Marine Corps air station, we self-performed 93% of the contract, and more than 70% of the debris was recycled. Other federal work includes Radford Army Ammunition Plant and Defense Supply Center Columbus.
