Ahtna-Target JV Shortlisted for a 2026 World Demolition Award
The NASA Marshall Space Flight Center test stand implosions are shortlisted in the Explosive Demolition category of the 2026 World Demolition Awards.
Ahtna-Target JV’s demolition of Facilities 4550 and 4572 at NASA Marshall is shortlisted for the Explosive Demolition Award. The Saturn V Dynamic Test Stand and the Saturn I Static Test Stand came down in two independently designed implosions, carried out together inside an active aerospace facility. Both structures fell within their designed footprints, with no damage to adjacent NASA infrastructure and no reported safety incidents over almost 30,000 worker hours. More than 90 percent of the material was recycled.
Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony during the World Demolition Summit in Madrid, November 3 to 5, 2026. We are proud of the team that planned and carried out this work with NASA.
