Target Contractors Takes the Stage at World Demolition Summit 2026

Our team will join NASA Marshall Space Flight Center in Madrid to tell the story of decommissioning two historic test stands.

On Thursday, November 5, 2026, James “JJ” Martin, our Director of Federal and Special Projects, and Austin Hays, our Executive Vice President, will present the keynote “From launch era to demolition challenge: decommissioning NASA’s test stands at Marshall Space Flight Center.” They will be joined by Megan R. Vansant, NASA MSFC lead architect and demolition programme manager; Justin J. Taylor, NASA MSFC lead center master planner; and Ron Gilbert, vice president of blasting operations at DetX/Dykon Demolition.

The two stands, built in the late 1950s and early 1960s, supported the Apollo and Space Shuttle programs. They came down by explosive demolition in January 2026, on an active NASA test site, after a long planning process with many stakeholders and a tight schedule.

The session runs 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the Novotel Madrid Center, during the Summit on November 3 to 5. If you are attending, come find us.
